What is an office cleaning bid?

When you are looking for an office cleaning company, more than likely they will make a bid that you'll have to accept or reject. If you are unfamiliar with this process, you might be unsure of what an office cleaning bid is or how it works, so let's address that here.

Essentially, an office cleaning company's bid is the amount they are willing to do the work for. Before making a bid, we tour the facilities to get an idea of what exactly the job will entail.

Factors we'll look at include:

*Square footage of the office or space that needs to be cleaned
* What specific tasks will need to be done
* How much time the job will take
* How often the area will need to be cleaned

Once we have this information, we can determine what our bid amount should be. This is the amount we want to be paid per week or month.

If you have several different office cleaning companies bidding on the job, you will want to wait to accept or reject the bid until you get bids from everyone. In our next post, we'll discuss how to choose between multiple bids.

How Outsourcing to a Commercial Cleaning Company Benefits Your Business

Previously, we discussed how a clean workplace can benefit your business. Now that you know the importance of a clean office, let's discuss why outsourcing this task is better for your business than handling it in-house.

1. You don't have to hire another employee. Hiring another employee means paying wages/salary for yet another staff member, not to mention health insurance, paid vacation and sick days, insurance for unemployment and injuries, and other benefits. In contrast, when you outsource to a commercial cleaning company, you pay the contract amount — and that's it.

2. You don't have to dedicate your valuable staff resources to the task. The alternative to hiring a new employee is making one or more existing employees responsible for the task. You have two choices in this scenario: dedicating one employee to the task and reassign his or her responsibilities, or spreading the task out between multiple employees. Either way, your employees will have more work and more stress, which can eventually hurt your business via higher rates of absenteeism, poorly done work, and higher turnover rates.

3. You can focus on running your business. Too often, when a small business needs services such as office cleaning, it falls upon the owner to take care of it. This can severely reduce the amount of time you have to run your business, ultimately reducing your chances of success.

Any successful business knows that outsourcing is a necessary factor in their success. Don't waste your valuable time and resources on details such as keeping your workplace clean, no matter how necessary they are — outsource to a qualified commercial cleaning company.

How a Clean Workplace Benefits Your Business

A clean workplace is imperative to any successful business. Here are four ways that keeping your office or workplace clean can benefit your business:

1. A clean workplace improves your company image. Whether your workplace is an office, retail space, or an industrial facility, a clean environment contributes to a positive company image. While the reasons for keeping retail space neat and clean are probably more obvious, even offices and industrial facilities are often visited by potential and existing clients.

2. A clean workplace increases productivity and morale. Besides making a good impression on clients, your workplace needs to make a good impression on your employees. A messy, disorganized workplace actually promotes sloppy performances from your employees, whereas a clean and well-organized environment encourages them to take their job more seriously.

3. A clean workplace protects employees from safety hazards. An unclean workplace can be hazardous to workers' safety. Spills that aren't properly cleaned can make the floor sticky or slippery; likewise, equipment or furniture that isn't returned to its rightful place could cause employees to trip and fall. Maintaining a clean workplace protects employees from these hazards — and you from being liable for their accidents.

4. A clean workplace promotes healthy employees. Employee sick days are a liability for many employers, at worst leaving you shorthanded, and at best requiring you to pay someone else overtime in order to maintain proper coverage. Regular cleanings can reduce the spread of germs in your office, reducing the number of sick days employees take. Likewise, regular cleanings can prevent the buildup of dust and other allergens that employees may find irritating.

As you can see, there are many reasons why keeping your office or workplace clean can benefit your business. Next we'll talk about why outsourcing to a commercial cleaning company is the best option.
